As Halloween approaches we can’t help but love the bountifulness of haunted attractions around us. Some are more family friendly than others, but all equally get us into the Halloween spirit. The Hawaiian Islands, and especially the island of Oahu, are well known worldwide for their supernatural phenomenon. So whether extreme haunts are your thing, or just a mild spooky experience with your little ones is what you seek, Oahu attractions do not disappoint.

Here are a few spooky-yet-fun attractions to check out this Halloween.

Scare Hawaii
This haunted attraction is spooky enough to scare even the most thrill-seeking Halloween fans. Get ready to scream as you make your way through this terrifyingly fun haunted house while experiencing loud audio, lighting, flashing lights, fog, special effects and sudden actions by actors. According to the creators, “this will be a mentally and physically draining experience you will not forget!”

Oahu Ghost Tours, Honolulu
Are Hawaiian ghosts different from other ghosts? Well, they just play a much bigger role in Polynesian culture where Hawaiians are known to be superstitious, and rightfully so. Oahu Ghost Tours not only showcase local hauntings and creepy legends, but are also not scripted, commercialized or rehearsed. They are raw, with no two tours ever alike. Experience some of our very own most haunted locations led by guides who have had their very own encounters with the supernatural and have a deep respect and understanding for what they have experienced in their own lives.

Nightmares Live, Dole Plantation
Nightmares Live is one of the Hawaii’s most famous haunted houses, with history stretching back almost twenty years. Dole Plantation, one of our favorite daytime destinations, has turned into a frightening place at night. Choose from the thrilling Nightmare Express train ride and listen to ghost stories by Lopaka Kapanui, or enter its haunted House of Nightmares and scream your head off at every corner.

ARTafterDark, Honolulu Museum of Art
This month, bring your boo, your fiendish family friend, and your creepy crew to the Honolulu Museum of Art’s most eerie event. Presented by iichiko, throw on your best costume and take part in the arts and entertainment presented to you. See a ghoulishly glamorous drag performance, get your bones rattling with DJ Takai, feast your eyes on a 3D projection from VJ Vizual Cortex, all while enjoying food from EAT Honolulu.

The Outbreak Experience, Honolulu
The Outbreak Experience returns to Honolulu for nine nights this October. It’s a fully immersive and interactive theatrical haunted attraction created by the creators of Haunted Plantation and 1706.
